SwitchBot’s Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo is a quicker way to unlock your door

SwitchBot has built a retrofit lock that fits behind an existing European door cylinder and unlocks in as little as 1.1 seconds.

That UltraDrive brushless motor spins at 160 rpm, 3.2 times faster than the standard Lock Ultra, and Max Mode draws on more than 9 kg of turning force to open a typical European lock mechanism.

Quiet Mode offers a more discreet alternative for late-night or early-morning entry, and the lock pairs an aluminium-alloy body with brushed stainless-steel detailing and SwitchBot’s Fluted Light Design, a finish that helps the retrofit hardware sit flush with the door.

That focus on retrofit-friendly hardware extends to the wider Combo, which pairs Lock Ultra Max with a companion keypad and hub rather than a standalone unit, an approach aimed at renters and homeowners who want an upgrade without swapping the entire mechanism.

SwitchBot Keypad Vision Pro turns the combo into a multi-user entry point with 3D facial recognition, palm vein recognition, fingerprint recognition, passcodes and NFC card access, while the wider system supports up to 19 unlock methods including geofencing, voice control, a smartwatch and the SwitchBot App.

Hands-free entry uses more than 30,000 infrared points to build a millimetre-level 3D facial map, and it completes recognition in under one second under lab conditions, while palm vein recognition offers a further option for children, older relatives or anyone with hard-to-scan fingerprints.

Power, security and installation

Three layers of power keep the door working, led by a 4200 mAh main battery rated for up to 9 months of use, a CR123A backup cell good for roughly 500 operations, and Micro-Power Unlock, which draws residual energy for emergency access up to 5 times when both run out.

Keypad Vision Pro runs on a separate 5000 mAh battery rated for up to 12 months between charges, and its approach-detection system only activates biometric recognition when someone nears the door, which helps reduce standby power use.

AES-128 encryption protects access communication, and facial, palm vein and fingerprint data stays processed and stored on the device itself rather than passing through third-party platforms, while Auto-Lock secures the door automatically after entry or exit.

The lock supports around 99% of European door mechanisms, and that range covers common EU profile, knob and Swiss round cylinders alongside UK oval cylinders, while SwitchBot Hub Mini Matter Enabled ships as part of the Combo to connect the lock with Apple Home and Home Assistant.

Pre-orders for the Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo open on 3 September through SwitchBot’s official EU and UK websites at an MSRP of €339.99 or £339.99, and buyers who order during the launch period receive a free year of Max Service, an extended warranty normally priced at €24.90 or £24.90
