Moen will retire the Flo by Moen app on 15 August and shift all users to its new Moen Flo app.
That shift stems from Moen’s move to consolidate device management, alerts and future firmware updates into a single platform, the first time the two systems have merged since Moen acquired Flo’s smart water technology.
Water damage remains one of the most expensive and common home insurance claims, and smart monitoring systems have become a favoured line of defence for homeowners seeking to catch leaks before they escalate into costly repairs.
That risk of escalating damage is exactly what Moen’s connected devices exist to prevent, and the migration affects owners of the Moen Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff, the Moen Smart Leak Detector, the Moen Smart Leak Detector with Remote Sensor, and other connected devices that the Flo by Moen app previously supported.
Failing to complete that switch carries real consequences, since owners who miss the deadline risk losing remote monitoring, leak notifications, automatic shutoff controls, water usage tracking, device configuration settings, Smart Leak Detector management, and access to future software updates once the legacy app shuts down.
That loss of functionality contrasts with what the migration itself preserves: Moen has confirmed the process carries over existing account information without requiring a factory reset and transfers connected devices, historical water usage data, device settings, alert preferences, FloProtect subscription details, and home configurations directly into the new app.
Completing the migration
Reaching that outcome takes only a few minutes, since customers can begin the process in either app: they can download the new Moen Flo app and tap its migration banner on the login screen, or open the existing Flo by Moen app, where a guided prompt walks them through the same steps.
That simplicity extends to account setup, since most customers will not need to create a new account when the same email address already serves both their Moen and Flo profiles, though Moen recommends that owners managing multiple homes confirm they have signed into the correct account before starting the process.
Moen will remove the Flo by Moen app from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store later this summer, and the company has confirmed no further support or updates will follow for customers who remain on the legacy application after 15 August.
