SwitchBot and Nanoleaf have published a joint guide showing how to control their curtains, locks, robot vacuums and lights from Apple’s HomeView.
Apple announced HomeView, its first smart display, on 13 October. It costs £299 / $299, has a 7-inch touchscreen, and doubles as a Matter controller and Thread Border Router.
That opens HomeView up to third-party brands, and SwitchBot and Nanoleaf have been quick to list which of their products it can control by touch or with Siri.
Which SwitchBot and Nanoleaf devices work with HomeView
Most of the guide covers SwitchBot products, including the Curtain 3, Blind Tilt, Lock Vision Series locks, sensors, meters, plugs, switches, air-care products and selected robot vacuums. Nanoleaf’s contribution is its compatible lighting.
The two brands come together in Apple Home scenes, so a Good Morning, Movie Night or Good Night routine can open SwitchBot curtains and change Nanoleaf lights with a single tap or Siri request on HomeView.
Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub have handled cross-brand routines for a long time, and Matter support means HomeView can reach well beyond the Home Collection accessories Apple developed with LG and Schneider Electric.
Connection requirements and setup
How each device connects to HomeView varies. The guide separates products that use Matter over Wi-Fi or HomeKit from SwitchBot accessories that need extra hardware before they’ll show up in Apple Home.
Many of those accessories use Bluetooth and need a compatible SwitchBot Matter Hub to connect to Apple Home, which is an extra cost if you don’t already have one.
The guide also groups compatible products by room, covering the bathroom, bedroom, entryway, home office, kitchen, laundry area and living room, so it’s easier to see what works where.
HomeView costs £299 in the UK for both the tabletop and wall-mounted models. Apple won’t sell it in the European Union while Siri AI remains unavailable there.
The guide is available now, so you can check compatibility and work out whether you need a Matter Hub before HomeView arrives in the UK on 13 November.
