Amazon has launched Alexa.com in the UK, a web browser version of its Alexa+ assistant.
That browser destination follows months of anticipation – ever since Amazon teased browser access when Alexa+ launched in March as the company’s most significant upgrade yet to its voice assistant.
Alexa.com carries over the core functions of Alexa+ and lets users manage calendars, update to-do lists, control compatible smart home devices, and ask questions directly from a browser rather than opening the dedicated mobile app.
That range of functions puts Alexa.com closer to a full productivity hub than a simple voice interface, since it handles scheduling and household management tasks that previously required either an Echo speaker or the Alexa phone app.
Browser access also removes a longstanding requirement to sit near an Echo smart speaker, since Alexa+ now reaches any computer with an internet connection rather than staying confined to Amazon’s own hardware ecosystem.
That shift matters for households that own a mix of devices, as a laptop or desktop user can now start a task on Alexa.com and finish it later on an Echo Show or the mobile app without repeating themselves.
Alongside Alexa.com, Amazon has also refreshed its mobile app with a more AI-focused interface, a parallel update that lets conversations carry over between phone, browser and Echo devices without losing context.
That cross-device push mirrors a wider shift among AI assistants, with Google recently extending Gemini into the Chrome browser in the UK, as major platforms compete to make their assistants reachable from wherever a user happens to be working.
Browser access carries no additional cost for Amazon Prime members who already hold an Alexa+ subscription, and Early Access customers can begin using Alexa.com immediately through any supported web browser.
Amazon has not confirmed a date for when Alexa.com access will extend beyond Early Access customers to the rest of its Alexa+ subscriber base across the UK, and the wider rollout timeline remains unclear for now.
