IKEA’s KAJPLATS smart lighting range has gained a cheaper new entry point in the US, where two GU10 LED bulbs are now available with wireless dimming and Matter support at prices that undercut many rival smart home options.
The new arrivals are the KAJPLATS LED bulb GU10 632 lumen smart white spectrum and the KAJPLATS LED bulb GU10 517 lm smart colour and white spectrum, giving US buyers a choice between adjustable white lighting and a full colour-capable version.
Both bulbs sit within IKEA’s wider KAJPLATS line, which the company introduced as part of its newer Matter-compatible smart home push, making these US listings another step in replacing older TRÅDFRI-era products with broader standards support.
That shift matters because Matter support makes these bulbs easier to fit into mixed-device households, where buyers increasingly expect a single light to work across more than one ecosystem instead of locking them into a brand-specific setup.
IKEA says both GU10 bulbs support wireless dimming, while app control through the IKEA Home smart platform can unlock grouped lighting, timers and wider automation when paired with the company’s DIRIGERA hub.
The white-spectrum version reaches 632 lumens and focuses on adjustable white tones, while the colour model tops out at 517 lumens and adds broader lighting customisation, giving IKEA room to target both practical spotlighting and more decorative smart lighting setups.
IKEA also lists a default colour temperature of 2700K and a lifespan of 25,000 hours for the bulbs, which helps explain the value angle because these are not being pitched as stripped-back smart lights despite their lower prices.
The budget angle is hardest to miss in the pricing, with IKEA selling the KAJPLATS GU10 632 lumen smart white bulb for $7.99 and the smart colour and white version for $9.99 in the US.
Those prices place IKEA’s new GU10 bulbs firmly in the budget end of the smart lighting market, while store availability still appears to vary by location through IKEA’s own stock checker and online listings.
