DJI just introduced ROMO, a robot vacuum line that brings its drone smarts down to floor level. It’s rolling out today in select European markets, with no UK date just yet.
The party trick is millimetre-level obstacle sensing that dodges 2mm cables and even playing cards. Dual fisheye vision and wide-angle solid-state LiDAR team up with machine learning, so it sees under sofas and keeps its bearings in low light.
For navigation, it leans on DJI’s mapping chops to plan tighter routes with fewer missed spots. It sneaks close to table legs and corners while steering clear of socks, spills, and other gotchas. Power isn’t shy either: suction is rated up to 25,000 Pa with airflow to 20 litres per second. If it spots cat litter, the ROMO slows its wheels and side brush to avoid scattering it before hoovering it up.
On the cleaning hardware, twin high-torque roller brushes feed debris into a hollow centre to lift hair, dust, and bigger bits without tangles.
Meanwhile, retractable arms extend along edges and into awkward corners, sweeping wider than the mop path so dirt doesn’t smear. For mopping, a 164 ml onboard tank keeps pads evenly damp across big rooms, and water output can ramp up on stubborn grime for a more convincing scrub.
With the flagship ROMO P, you get a compartment for cleaning solution and floor deodorizer, dosed straight onto the pads. There’s also a noise-reduction chamber, so cleaning sounds more hush than roar.
The base station handles the messy jobs with four high-pressure jets and a 16 mm waste outlet flushing debris away, while 12 N of pad pressure gives the mops a proper wash. DJI says you can go up to 200 days between hands-on maintenance. Dust collection runs through three-stage sound suppression that cuts up to 80% of the noise, which is kinder to kids, pets, and movie night.
You control everything in the DJI Home app. The interface is clean, with presets and one-tap routines, plus alerts for low clean water or a full dirty tank. There are focused modes for carpets, thresholds, kitchens and bathrooms, and pet zones. The onboard sensors can even double as a quick home check-in, with two-factor activation on first use, encrypted video, and the option to disable the camera entirely.
Charging is 55 W fast charge to full in about 2.5 hours. And accessories include extra brushes and pads, deodorizer, cleaning solution, and a ramp for taller thresholds.Pricing is €1,899 for ROMO P, €1,599 for ROMO A, and €1,299 for ROMO S, with orders at store.dji.com and authorized partners.
