Wire terminals are best suited for connecting to 8 gauge wires, the red rubber ring is just right to hold the wire securely when using 8 gauge wires. If use a wire smaller than 8 gauge, such as 10 gauge, there will be an extra gap in the aperture, and if use a wire larger than 8 gauge, such as 6 gauge or 4 gauge, that will need to remove the red rubber ring.
