This smart appliance can make both bread…and ice cream

Panasonic’s latest breadmaker makes ice cream, mochi, and loaves from a single compact countertop unit. What a combination.

With three automatic frozen dessert programmes and 34 settings for bread, dough, and sweets, Panasonic’s latest breadmaker extends well beyond the typical single-function countertop baking appliance.

The appliance produces ice cream, frozen yoghurt, and sorbet in approximately 25 minutes through a supplied container that fits inside the unit, a capability that remains rare among countertop baking appliances at any price point.

Beyond frozen desserts, the breadmaker runs 12 dedicated dessert programmes that include mochi and other recipes that typically require specialist kitchen equipment, a range that reflects growing consumer interest in automated home patisserie.

That breadth of dessert capability places the appliance among a small but growing category of countertop units that consolidate multiple standalone kitchen devices into a single footprint as compact urban kitchens drive demand for versatility.

The bread-making side of the unit matches that consolidation ambition with an artisan-style kneading technique alongside automatic yeast and raisin or nut dispensers that handle ingredient distribution without manual intervention during the full cycle.

Those dispensers support a programme range split across bread, gluten-free, dough, sweet, and manual categories, and the gluten-free settings specifically target a growing segment of home bakers who find commercial free-from loaves limited in both texture and freshness.

The unit houses those programmes within an aluminium inner pan with a non-stick fluorine coating and built-in overheating protection, a combination that maintains consistent conditions whether the appliance runs a sourdough cycle or a 25-minute sorbet programme.

Panasonic has kept the breadmaker compact at 304 by 241 by 307 millimetres despite that expansive programme range, with a 500-gram loaf capacity and a weight of 6.1 kilograms that fits comfortably on a standard kitchen worktop.

Inside, a double temperature sensor monitors conditions throughout each baking and dessert cycle, while a 13-hour delay timer and three crust settings from light to dark give users precise control over the finished result.

Panasonic plans to extend that control further through its Kitchen+ app from October 2026, with more than 50 guided recipes and the ability to monitor and adjust baking settings directly from a paired smartphone.

The company has not announced pricing or a general availability date alongside the specification release.
