Blink has launched the Outdoor 2K+ security camera with sharper video and a new storage limitation.
The launch upgrades Blink’s long-running budget outdoor camera, which previously captured only 1080p footage and struggled to render clear detail whenever subjects moved quickly or the surrounding light began to fade.
The Outdoor 2K+ now records at 2560 x 1440 in its top quality setting, a jump in resolution that Blink pairs with 4x digital zoom for closer inspection of distant activity. That resolution boost extends to low-light performance, since an upgraded sensor maintains colour footage up to 30 feet before switching to infrared black-and-white once darkness fully sets in.
Two-way audio with noise cancellation rounds out the hardware changes, while a pair of AA lithium batteries still delivers a claimed two years of runtime inside an IP65 weatherproof housing.
Existing Blink Outdoor 4 accessories such as floodlight mounts and battery packs carry over to the new camera, and a USB-C port allows mains power through a separately sold weather-resistant adapter.
A new Sync Module removes local storage
The camera’s headline catch lies in its bundled Sync Module Core, which replaces the older Sync Module 2 and has dropped the USB port that previously let owners store footage on a flash drive.
Without that local storage option, the free experience narrows to live view and motion alerts, since saved recordings, person and vehicle detection and smarter notifications now sit behind a paid Blink subscription.
Blink offers two subscription tiers to unlock those features, with Blink Basic covering a single device from £2.50 a month and Blink Plus covering unlimited cameras from £8 a month. Both subscription tiers include cloud storage for recordings of up to 60 days in most regions, although that retention window shortens considerably to just 30 days across the European Union and the UK.
An older Sync Module 2 still functions with the new camera for anyone who already owns one, though most first-time buyers of the Outdoor 2K+ will only receive the newer, USB-free Sync Module Core.
The Outdoor 2K+ also remains tied to Amazon’s own ecosystem, since it supports Alexa but offers no compatibility with Matter, Apple HomeKit or Google Home, unlike some newer rivals in the category.
Pricing and availability
Blink has set pricing for the camera at £89.99 in the UK, $99.99 in the US and AU$119 in Australia, with the device available through Amazon across all three markets.
That pricing places the camera alongside the smaller Blink Mini 2K+ and the dual-camera Blink Arc as part of a broader refresh that brings 2K resolution across Blink’s outdoor and indoor ranges.
Blink has not indicated any plan to restore USB storage support to the Sync Module Core, which means the subscription remains the only route to recorded footage, person detection and vehicle alerts on the new camera.
