Apple TV is on a hot streak with new shows, with more coming soon

Apple TV is about to kick off its best summer lineup ever, but the streamer is already on a roll with recent premieres. Here are three recent new series in Apple TV’s hot streak, and upcoming shows that seem poised to keep it going.

Apple TV’s brand new shows this year have earned significant acclaim

For most of this year, Apple TV has focused on high-profile returning shows. These included new seasons of Shrinking, Hijack, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and most recently Your Friends & Neighbors.

But over the past month, the streamer has shifted focus to brand new series—and to great success.

Three recent series are among Apple‘s best-reviewed shows of the year:

All three shows have been critically acclaimed. Widow’s Bay and Margo’s both have impressive 97% Rotten Tomatoes scores. My Brother the Minotaur has been overlooked by some as a ‘kid’s show,’ but its few reviews offer high praise—including The New York Times.

Each show is absolutely worth checking out if you haven’t yet.

But in the next few weeks, three more brand new shows look set to keep Apple’s hot streak going.

What’s coming to Apple TV next

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed premieres next week on Wednesday, May 20.

The show stars Tatiana Maslany and Jake Johnson and blends thriller and comedy genres. The plot involves a newly divorced mom falling down a wild spiral of blackmail and murder, but also youth soccer. And it’s garnered strong early buzz. (Add to Apple TV Watchlist)

Star City debuts the following week on Friday, May 29. It’s a space race thriller set in the For All Mankind universe.

The show stars Rhys Ifans and follows the alt-history story of For All Mankind but from the Soviet perspective. Apple calls it a “propulsive paranoid thriller,” indicating a faster pace than its inspiration. (Add to Apple TV Watchlist)

Cape Fear arrives on Friday, June 5 with two big names behind it: Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.

The series is inspired by the 1991 Scorsese film of the same name. It stars Javier Bardem as a convicted killer who is released from prison and seeks vengeance against the married attorneys who put him in jail, played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson. (Add to Apple TV Watchlist)
