IKEA’s new Matter lights and sensors work with Google Home for just $10

IKEA has launched a new wave of smart home products with full Matter and Google Home compatibility.

The smart lighting range expands with the VARMBLIXT table lamp, a revival of one of IKEA’s most popular designs that the company says sold once every five minutes in the US since its original debut, now updated with remote colour control accessible through either the IKEA app or third-party Matter platforms including Google Home.

A pendant version of the VARMBLIXT launches alongside the table lamp, carrying the same full-colour smart controls and a distinct design at $159.99, while the table lamp version comes bundled with one of IKEA’s button remotes and is priced at $99.99.

Sensors and smart plugs round out the lineup

The GRILLPLATS smart plug joins the Matter lineup at $7.99, offering a low-cost entry point for users looking to add remote control or scheduling to existing appliances without investing in a full smart home ecosystem overhaul.

Air quality monitoring arrives through the ALPSTUGA at $29.99, which features a built-in display for reading environmental data at a glance, placing it in a growing category of affordable home sensors that have historically required significantly higher investment to access.

IKEA has experienced some compatibility issues with Matter devices in the past, though the new lineup targets Google Home integration specifically, with the Matter standard designed to provide more consistent cross-platform performance than earlier iterations of IKEA’s smart home products.

All five products are available now in-store and online, with the KALLSUP speaker representing the most accessible entry point into the new range at just under $10.
