Ugreen’s latest NAS drives pack on-device AI

Announced at CES 2026, Ugreen’s new iDX6011 and iDX6011 Pro can run a local large language model (LLM) on a NAS, pairing Intel Core Ultra chips with on‑device search, photo tagging, and transcription for private workflows.

The specifications indicate a shift toward offline data processing, essentially creating a NAS that handles AI tasks locally.

It’s a big deal because Ugreen is one of the first brands to expand NAS functionality beyond simple storage. The system offers natural-language search, an on‑device chat assistant called Uliya, automatic photo categorisation, and voice-memo transcription. These features process data locally rather than on cloud servers to enhance data privacy.

While the company has shown similar AI NAS concepts before, this iteration features updated hardware and expanded capabilities. It’s essentially a local version of Google Photos and Google Drive, without the Big G collecting all that sweet, sweet data for marketing purposes.

When it comes to specs, the iDX6011 uses an Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, while the iDX6011 Pro features an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H. Both support up to 64GB LPDDR5/x and dual 10GbE for high-speed transfers.

The Pro adds an OcuLink port for external GPU or storage expansion, which is intended for studios and AI workflows that need extra compute.

Pricing is lower than some rivals during the pre‑order window, starting at $999 for the iDX6011 with 32GB of RAM, though these discounts are limited to the initial launch phase.

UGREEN’s iDX6011 series represents a shift toward smarter, more private storage by moving AI processing from the cloud to the local device. While the hardware specifications are high, the success of these units will depend on the long-term stability of the local AI software and the efficiency of its thermal design.

For users looking to move away from cloud-based services, these NAS models could offer a high-capacity, offline alternative for managing and processing data.
